This is really cool.  I highly recommend you check it out if you're at all interested in the Radio Ranges.  It really shows the system well.

Hello All,

Don't know how many of us use Google Earth or how many use it as a nav-aid, but this is a brilliant effort by one of the blokes at FlightSim (apollosmith) that I wanted to share.

He's created an overlay for Google Earth that displays a database he compiled from the data included in the RR scenery that will display all of it's stations and beams.

From his post on their forum..."You can also click the station to get more details about the station and the local airport or view the approach chart. The beams extend to their correct ranges and angles. Click them to see the inbound and outbound headings. They are color coded to indicate the appropriate side the stations indicates you're on - A=white (I think Albino) and N=black (I think Negro - spanish for Black)."

Forum link is here: http://forums.flightsim.com/vbfs/showthread.php?p=1485296#post1485296

You may pick up the kmz file here : http://smithplanet.com/fs2004/tools/rr/

If you have GE installed already then simply click on this file and it will open your GE and display his work.

Worth a look.

Cheers,

Sorry about my absence folks,

Answer to Bill's question is Yes absolutley and that goes for anyone viewing who might have the time.

Here's the link to the announcement at FlightSim.com : http://forums.flightsim.com/vbfs/showthread.php?t=215234

There are a few of us at Flightsim.com that have enjoyed the World Rallys for the last few years.

I am Moderator on FlightSim's Multiplayer Adventures forum and a member here as well.

My unabashed enthusiasm for the Radio Range project has slowly caught on with some of my mates and I'd like to start promoting RR based multiplayer events over several websites.

I sent invitations to AVSIM and sim-outhouse as well. All are welcome and I, as the pioneer outside of DC-3 Airways, would relish the presence of anyone who could be supportive of those in attendance who are new to all of this.

Al,,,if you can make it, that would be great. If your not able to schedule, then I'll make a note of any hang ups we had and send you an email asking for suggestions to make the next one run smoother yet and be informative as well.

Cheers,

Bill,

This isn't a DC-3 Airways sponsored event, so you'll have to follow the links above to Austin's post on another forum and follow the instructions for signing up (if they've been posted yet.)

Austin,

Looks like fun. I'll try to make it.  I'll also put in a plug over at the DC3 Airways forum.

Regards,

Al

Al,

That would be terrific. I would also enjoy anytime you could spare as a coach, so to speak, and perhaps give me a pointer or two to help me get my crowd onboard with the way things were done....correctly.

Thank You!
