Thank you for visiting DC-3 Airways! Welcome to the DC-3 World Tour, starting October 2nd, 2024.
Unlike a competitive rally, our goal is to offer a selection of ten interesting and challenging flights from around the world, all to be flown in a DC-3/C-47. Each pilot will have a three-day “slot” to complete each flight within the thirty-day tour duration. The World Tour Roster provide details on when each flight can be flown.
Navigation for these flights involves a mix of NDBs, VORs, visual waypoints, and even some dead reckoning using maps. We encourage pilots to fly the DC-3/C-47 by the numbers, adding to the challenge. Calculated flight times are based on correct average climb, cruise, descent, and approach speeds. Some flights also feature specific weather conditions.
What to expect:
- We’ll provide basic flight descriptions and additional flight plans compatible with tools like LittleNavMap or SkyVector.
- Weather suggestions will be available, although the calculated flight time disregards weather effects.
- A roster will track participating pilots and their locations.
- Our forum allows you to ask questions, share remarks, and exchange ideas. Most important of all, NOTAMS will be posted on the Forum.
- Pilots can fly together using DC-3 Airways servers, using swift Pilot Client or JoinFS for other participants.
